Pick Your Destiny!

You know those story books that you used to read as a child that you could create the story as you go. It would go something like, "And then Henry looked into the closet and...go to page 177 if Henry has met the end of his luck or go to page 209 if Henry escapes just in the nick of time." I used to read both sections and then decide what I wanted to do...all with Henry's fate in mind of course.

I want all you fellow bloggers to really grasp this concept. A recipe can be anything you want it to be. While yes we all might be following a recipe for a homemade pizza we of course want to include our own zest to the recipes. We can all be creators and imagineers...is that a word.

This sounds like a daunting task and like it's not an easy thing to do (hello my blog is all about doing what's easiest in cooking, you should know me better:)) but you'll see how easy and customizable the recipe can be to you and your tastes and whims of the day.

Today we will be making shredded pork tacos. The first recipe will be for a quick and cheap recipe that has the more traditional flavors of shredded beef and the second recipe will have more ingredients and instead of a traditional flavor more of a barbecued taco type feel to it. Both are to die for. Remember guys, make this recipe your own. I started with tacos because it's something easy to make your own. If you don't like onions on your tacos use tomatoes. Add your favorite cheese. Make the recipe what you want it to be!

Shredded Pork 1:

You'll Need:
1 packet of onion soup mix
1 packet of ranch dressing mix
1 pork roast (Smith's had these for a great price)
6-12 Taco shells or tortillas
Any toppings you want!

Really that's all!

Instructions:
Mix the seasonings in a bowl and then rub the mixture all over the roast. Place the roast in a slow cooker. Pour the rest of the seasoning in the slow cooker. Cook the roast on high for 6-8 hours. After the roast is done in the slow cooker shred the pork with two forks. Wa la! Add the pork to the taco shell and add your favorite taco toppings (my favorite is shredded cabbage, tomatoes, cheese and avacado)

Sweet Barbecue Pork
You'll Need:
3 pounds pork roast
3/4 cup Dr. Pepper
1 tablespoon garlic minced
3/4 cup tomatoe sauce
1 cup brown sugar
2 limes, juice only
1 cup tomatilla sauce
6-12 taco shells
Any taco toppings you want!

Instructions:
Place the pork in a crock pot. Top with garlic and coca cola. Cover andcook ...on high for 4-5 hours or until you can shred it with a fork. When pork is tender, remove it from crock pot and shred. Return meat to the crock pot and mix in the remaining ingredients for the sauce. Cover and simmer on low until ready to serve. Add any toppings you want to your delicous sweet pork tacos!
