Let's face it. When we look for good recipes, the food that is aesthetically pleasing wins the vote. While my stuffed mushroom recipe last week is absolutely TO DIE FOR the picture looked a little bit more like food that had already been eaten instead of food that was about to be devoured.
The same applies for the desserts we make. Since desserts often include guests, you want to dress up your dessert to impress your audience. There are so many ways to dress up desserts. However, I despise those mommy magazines where the decoration looks like it took the entire day,the cakes with handmade flowers, the cupcakes made into animals with vary strategic cutting of fruit roll ups. These desserts look cute but often don't taste good and take a long time.
Here's a recipe to wow your crowd. It's easy, customizable to your taste and can be decorated in a matter of seconds. The recipe this week is Cookie Truffles.
You'll need:
1 Package of Cream Cheese
1 Package of your favorite cookies (My favorite is nutter butter or oreo)
1 Package of your favorite type of chocolate ( Dove milk chocolates work perfect for this)
Any toppings you want (my favorite is white chocolate drizzle or coconut)
Instructions:
Crush the cookies into a fine powder in the blender. Heat the cream cheese in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Mix the crushed cookies and the cream cheese together. Blend the batter together until it is smooth and without lumps. The batter will be very thick. Cover a tray with waxed paper. Roll the dough into teaspoon sized balls and set them on the tray. Cool the cookie balls in the refrigerator while you melt your chocolate. Dip the cookie balls in the melted candy coating while turning to cover the entire ball. Place balls back on waxed paper and sprinkle with desired topings (colored sugar, toasted coconut, nuts, pepermint pieces, sprinkles) my favorite is drizzling white chocolate in lines over the truffles. Place the tray of truffles in the refrigerator until cool and ENJOY!
Happy Eating Food Lovers!

oh my goodness I want to go make these. I've been thinking about them since I suggested them to you. I like the idea of using Dove chocolate, that's my favorite American chocolate. I am going to try that next time.
By the way I wanted to explain through our twitter discussion but there wasn't enough room. I've tried the Mint Oreos (because they are my favorite) it's good but not as good as you would expect so the next time I did the original Oreos with mint extract and it was Heaven.
tempting... so tempted to make this now.
those look amazing. You are right it is all about what it looks like!
Mmmmm these look delicious! I am for sure going to make them!!
I've done these with Oreo but never with Nutter Butter! I suspect I shall be in a state of unrest until I try it this way.
